#Juteborg is transforming the world focusing of the most sustainable material there is – jute.
In Bangladesh 1/3 of the population of 160 million People (most very poor farmers), is depending on jute industry. If we lift jute into more hightech innovation and refinement locally we have potential of lifting 50 million people. Impact. #JuteEmpowersWomen
The golden fiber jute is also light, cheap, strong, and very ecological.
It absorbs 20 times more CO2equivalent than other natural fibers. It matures in 120 days (trees in 60-80 years, bamboo in 3-10 years) It grows in crop rotation. In Bangladesh you have three crops a year. Two crops of rice and one crop of jute. The jutecrop fertilizes the soil and you don’t need pesticides. Even if you don’t need the material jute, you grow jute anyway to get better ricecrops! This means that you don’t take away land area from foodproduction:-) By the way – jute leaves are eatable. Very nutritious and great antioxidants. Taste like spinach.
