The wisdom of the natural peoples

When will we, so to speak, civilized people, start following wisdom and prudence instead of the seagulls in the parliament theater in our beautiful society?!

It may be time to listen to the wisdom of our natural people instead of the dark souls of illusion!

The Indians had to pay a high price for the colonizers’ hunger for power, control, need and madness. Here is a speech I found from Chief Seattle was an Indian chief who was born in 1786 and lived until 1866.

Chief Seattle’s speech (free Swedish translation)

How can you buy or sell the sky – the warmth of the earth?

The idea is foreign to us.

If we do not own the freshness of the air and water, how can you buy them?

Every part of this earth is sacred to my people.

Every sparkling pine needle, every grain of sand on the beach, every mist in the dark forests, every clearing, every buzzing insect – is sacred in the memory and experience of my people.

The flow of sap in the trees bears the memorials of the red man.

The spirits of the dead live on in these windless forests, and the earth is our mother’s blood.

We are part of the earth, and it is part of us.

The fragrant flowers are our sisters;

The deer, the horse, the great eagle—our brothers.

The snow-capped peaks, the sap in the trees, the body heat of the pony and man—all belong to the same family.

Therefore, when the Great Chief in Washington sends word that he wants to buy our land, he demands much of us.

But we will consider it—for we know that if we do not sell, the white man will come with his guns and take the land anyway.

Whatever we decide, we will do it for the sake of our children.

If we accept, it will be on one condition: the white man must treat the animals of this land as his brothers.

I have seen thousands of rotting buffalo on the prairie, left by the white man who shot them from the train.

What is man without the animals?

If all the animals were gone, man would die of a great loneliness in his soul.

For whatever happens to the animals, happens to man too.

Everything is connected.

What you do to the earth, you do to yourselves.

One thing we know: our God is the same God.

The earth is sacred to him.

Not even the white man can escape the common fate of man.

Maybe we are brothers after all. We’ll see.

Feel free to share!!!!
